Temporary residence on the basis of family reunification

Family reunification in Serbia

A family should not be kept apart by administrative procedures. If you wish to join a family member who is lawfully residing or living in the Republic of Serbia, it is possible to regulate temporary residence on the basis of family reunification, provided the statutory requirements are met.

The Mihajlović Visa Center provides complete administrative and legal support throughout the entire procedure, from assessing whether the requirements are met and preparing the documentation to communicating with the competent authorities and monitoring the case.

Our aim is to make the procedure as straightforward as possible and to ensure that clients have clear information about what to expect throughout the process.

Who is entitled to family reunification?

Temporary residence on the basis of family reunification may be granted to family members of a foreign national lawfully residing in Serbia or of a citizen of the Republic of Serbia, in accordance with the applicable regulations.

Every case has its own particularities, which is why it is important to check at the outset whether the statutory requirements are met and which documents will be needed.

What does the procedure look like?

Although every case is different, the procedure usually consists of the following steps:

  1. 1Step 1Analysis of the family situation and the legal basis
  2. 2Step 2Checking that the requirements are met
  3. 3Step 3Preparation of the required documentation
  4. 4Step 4Filing the application
  5. 5Step 5Communication with the competent authorities
  6. 6Step 6Responding to any requests for additional documents
  7. 7Step 7The decision

We monitor the case throughout the entire procedure and keep the client informed of every important step.

How can we help?

Our support may include:

  • assessing whether the requirements are met
  • preparing the complete documentation
  • checking the validity of foreign documents
  • completing the forms
  • communication with the competent authorities
  • monitoring the procedure
  • assistance in the event of requests for additional documents
  • legal support in more complex situations

What we pay particular attention to

Experience shows that many procedures are prolonged not because of the application itself, but because of incomplete or inconsistent documentation. We pay particular attention to:

  • choosing the right basis of residence
  • checking all family documents
  • the consistency of documentation issued in different countries
  • obtaining additional evidence in good time where required
  • communication with the competent authorities throughout the procedure

In this way we aim to reduce the likelihood of unnecessary delays.

Extending residence and changes in circumstances

After temporary residence has been granted, it may be necessary to extend it or to change its legal basis if family or other circumstances change.

A timely analysis can help maintain the continuity of lawful residence without interruption.

More than administrative assistance

  • In procedures in Serbia we do not only assist with preparing the documentation.
  • Through our cooperation with experienced attorney Jovana Mihajlović we can, where necessary, also provide full legal support, including communication with the competent authorities, legal analysis of more complex situations and representation in proceedings in accordance with the law.
  • This means the client receives both administrative and legal support in one place.
